40.7 degrees C, hottest day in city


Severe heat wave conditions prevailed in the city and neighbourhood today with the mercury registering a record high of 40.7 degrees Celsius. The weather office here has predicted hotter days ahead. The maximum temperature tomorrow could be in the range of 41 to 42 degrees, Met officials told PTI.
It was in May 23, 1980 that the weather office recorded 43.6 degrees in Nungambakkam. On May 21, 1910, suburban Meenambakkam recorded a temperature of 45 degrees Celsius, it said.

People in the city are going bonkers over the heat and humidity...never have I experienced sooo much humidity...A/Cs are overworking. Its crazy!
